Android Software Engineer

an Android Software Engineer to join our Tech team in Romania. Whether you prefer remote or hybrid work #LI-Hybrid , we’ve got you covered! You enjoy turning great UX/UI into seamless user experiences, designing, securing, and maintaining complex mobile apps, managing technical debt, and delivering features that users can love.

As a key member of our tech team, you’ll play a crucial role in providing our users with a smooth experience through  CARIAD/VW products
Your Tasks:

  • Product Development: Iteratively work on product priorities while improving the performance, stability, and testability of Android applications, ensuring a seamless mobile experience through clean architecture and scalable code.
  • Best Practices Advocate: Promote best practices and address technical challenges of mobile engineering in a knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Collaborative Design: Develop and influence the final look and feel of our products together with our product team, materially helping our users.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously work to bolster mobile application design, implementation, and delivery processes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Technical Leadership: Help shape and advance the technical culture that defines every interaction users have with our products and services.
  • Daily Collaboration: Work closely with a small team of product managers, engineers, and UI/UX designers to understand business requirements and user goals.
Your Profile:
We're looking for someone who meets business goals and encourages knowledge-sharing & someone's who fun to work with!

Summary: 
  • Have between 2-5 years of experience with Android mobile application development, including a solid understanding of MVVM & MVI architecture.
  • Thrive in a start-up environment, with little hierarchy.
  • Be a citizen / long-term resident of Romania
  • Our company's language is English, which means you need to be able to speak and write it fluently.
Technical Expertise:
  • Be well-versed in Kotlin, with a deep understanding of Android SDK, including associated frameworks, techniques and CI/CD tools
  • Have between 3-6 years of experience with mobile application development, including a good understanding of MVVM & MVI architecture
  • Be comfortable to dive into specifics and sort out complex technical challenges
  • Enjoy working with with agile methodologies
  • Comfortably push for good test coverage – be familiar with unit and UI testing, e.g. testability of Presenters
  • Drive integration of new technologies, clean coding principles and best practices
Non-Technical Skills:
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a willingness to tackle challenges and contribute to finding solutions.
  • Team player who works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel several times per year for on-site workshops and team meetings.
